生体内でおきる「力」の作用を 捉え、操作し、理解する
福井研は2023年7月に発足しました。私たちの研究室のメインテーマは心臓の形づくりを理解することです。我々の身体では細胞が認識する「情報」の違いに起因して、特徴をもつ機能的な集団（組織・器官）が構成されます。ここでの「情報」とは自身の遺伝情報、集団を構成する環境の情報などが含まれますが、組織や器官がどのように機能的に形づくられるのか、その仕組みについては未だに理解がすすんでいません（仕組みの多くを理解したとき、例えば完全に機能する臓器を作りだすことができるかもしれません）。そこで、私たちは小型魚類であるゼブラフィッシュを用いて、とくに心臓を構成する細胞内外で生じる「物理的情報」に注目し、そこに存在するメカニズムの解明に取り組んでいます。

Fukui Laboratory was established in July 2023. The primary theme of our laboratory is to elucidate how the heart is shaped. In our bodies, functional units such as tissues and organs generate due to differences in the ‘information’ that cells sense. The ‘information’ here refers to the genetic codes contained in each cell and the mechanical fields of functional units consisting of cellular assembly. However, the mechanisms underlying morphological formations of tissues and organs remain largely unknown (A better understanding of these mechanisms could one day enable us to produce fully functional tissues and organs...). Our studies focus on the ‘physical information’ generated by cells in the heart and aim to uncover the mechanism of which mechanical processes control heart morphogenesis using zebrafish model.
